5 Days Stalking Wild Boar Hunting in Turkey

With its great wild boar population of high trophy quality, Turkey stands out as the best place in Europe and Asia to hunt wild boar.

Wild boar hunting in Turkey is available throughout the year and can be organized in almost every region of the country.

Turkish boars are not only heavy at body weight, but posses also exceptionally strong tusks. The average length of boar tusks is 18 to 22 cm, with high-class being 23-32 cm. As you may see from our latest hunts, our hunters harvest a very good number of big tusks, some of which are gold-medal trophies between 24 and 31 cm.

Wild boars usually live in the forests where the trees of their favorite seeds and fruits are found and also in places with plenty of walnut trees, hazel bushes and shrubs which provide excellent feeding grounds for them.

As Optimum Hunting, we organize successful and nice stalking wild boar hunts in Turkey, in those most suitable and productive areas for the boar to maintain its life.

There are two Anatolian boar hunting styles; stalking & driven. The hunter can either wait at feeding grounds or water holes, or stalk along agricultural fields.

Also, boar hunting can be done with rifle or bow. Since Optimum Hunting is a bow hunting friendly company, you can bring your own bow too.

For Mediterranean Coast, south of Turkey, hunters need to fly to Antalya as their last destination while they need to fly to Ankara for Black Sea Region of Turkey and Central Anatolia.

As there are direct and daily flights of Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya from major European cities, travelling is very easy and short. From the nearest airport, hunting areas take 1 to 4 hours drive depending on the location.

You’ll be taken to the hunting grounds with brand new 4×4 pick-up trucks that is suitable for all the terrains. Every hunter will have 1 PH and 1 translator with him. Our PH will pick you up from the airport, handle the gun import, help you complete your hunt with success and accompany you to the airport back for your flight. You will never feel alone in a country that you don’t know much about.

You will be having your lunch either in the hotel or in the best restaurant closest to your hotel or the hunting area.

Turkish Game Department allows wild boar hunting all over the year and best times rise up as moonlight periods of the months for stalking type, while any month from September thru 20th of Feb is suitable for driven type of hunting. The weather changes depending on the season and during the summer time the weather is like around 15-20°C during the night at stalking hunt while it could be warmer during the day if driven is taken. In the winter time the weather is quite cool, sometimes around 0 – +5°C level. The specific information can only be given when the dates and the area are certain. Accommodation is at 3-4 star hotels depending on the area chosen and sometimes hunting lodges are used with satisfactory facilities.

Accommodation and meals are one of the most important points to us. Because a good and comfortable sleep with quality meals will boost both the hunters and the guides for the success of the hunt.

You will be accommodating in the best hotel in town and having your meals in high quality restaurants.

You may have heard that Turkish cuisine is one of the best in the world. There are so many meat and vegetable dishes, soups, drinks, and delicious desserts. If you ever get a chance to eat at a Turkish restaurant one day, you’ll truly understand what we mean. Turkish food is really delicious!

As wild boar habitat in the mountains consisted of plenty of oak trees, pine trees, hazel bushes and agriculture fields, the altitude are not high. The average altitude of the areas are 500 – 2000 mt. Hunters that are keen on big tusks are strongly recommended to have stalking type hunt in moonlight.

Although the average is around 19-22 cm, it is not uncommon to get very big tusks like 25 cm and bigger. A hunter with good shooting skill, can get 5-8 or more big tusks during a standard stalking hunt (5 days) programmed.

The other method of wild boar hunting is Driven Hunt. Even though the areas for driven hunts lie in remote, but beautiful mountainous areas, these are well accessible by paths, so the transfers from stand to stand can be done with vehicles. This means even older and less sportive hunters can participate in this hunt. As all areas are free range, hunting success and daily bags are essentially dependant on the shooting skills of the hunter especially, during the driven hunt. A skilled group can surely achieve outstanding results in such a driven hunt. As you surely know, these wild mountain areas are not only known for their huge daily bags, but also for their exceptionally strong boars (even top-class with 21-29 cm) and their high percentage of old and huge females.

To successfully hunt a wild boar, you first need to make a successful preparation work. As Optimum Hunting, we know how important and valuable this work is. On the other hand, we know that the hunter prefers any outfitter to hit the best wild boar with the longest and thickest tusks and to collect the most number of them.

We do 5 days of baiting with our PHs in the area just before the hunt to spot the best boars in that area already. So your hunt becomes easier and more successful in the end. Most of the outfitters in Turkey don’t make the sufficient baiting to avoid huge extra costs which in turn results in poor hunts. For Optimum Hunting, profit is less important than the hunter’s satisfaction and success. So we don’t leave anything to chance and do whatever we’re required to make your hunt a real success.

Gun import won’t be a hassle for you, since we’ll make all the arrangements at the customs on behalf of you.

You just send us your passports and the gun certificates and we prepare all the paperwork for your gun import.

Our PH meets you at the airport and handles every detail about these import issues. You do absolutely nothing about the gun import process.

American and European citizens can receive visa upon arrival in short time just before passport check point or they can get from the web page as an online, for this they just pay 50 -100 EUR around.

The tusks of the boars hunted are being removed at the end of each drive. One or two employees are assigned to work on this. After the removal, those tusks are cleaned by boiling and delivered to hunter.
